Coronavirus (COVID-19) Disinfectant services

Based on the World Health Organization’s declaration that this is a public health emergency of international concern, the UK Chief Medical Officers have raised the risk to the UK from low to moderate. (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public 05/03/2020).

Prof Chris Whitty, the country’s chief medical adviser, in his briefing to Parliament on Thursday 5 March 2020 told MP’s that it was “highly likely” some people are now being infected who have had no connection with the overseas cases.  It would appear in view of this statement the virus has started to be transmitted within the community.

Transmission

Apart from the usual spread of disease from person to person The World Health Organisation and Public Health England have identified that surfaces, for example handrails, door handles and counter tops can become contaminated with the virus delivered by large droplets as a result of coughing or sneezing by an infected person.  The length of time a surface remains contaminated will depend on a variety of factors. These include the type of surface, temperature and humidity, exposure to sunlight and of course the frequency it encounters cleaning products.

Under most circumstances, the amount of infectious virus on any contaminated surfaces is likely to have decreased significantly by 72 hours” (https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/coronavirus-covid-19-list-of-guidance 05/03/2020).

As it currently stands we are between the ‘contain’ and ‘delay’ stages of the outbreak and indicators show the risk of transmission of the virus within the community is escalating.  The need for efficient and effective cleaning and disinfection of surfaces where the public frequently use them becomes paramount.

In light of the new information obtained from government sources, Opkill Ltd have taken the decision to expand our decontamination services in preparation to facilitate the rise in demand of disinfection required. We have prepared ourselves with a stock of virucidal disinfectant that targets the COVID – 19 Virus and have trained new operatives in its dispersal.

Using the services of our team of technicians, Opkill Ltd can provide the delivery of mass decontamination of affected or potentially effected areas such as street furniture, handrails, litter bins as well as public areas including schools, community halls etc.
